Events & Filming
More Than a Weekend Away
The Fernweh House is a private retreat first. On a limited, case-by-case basis, we're open to hosting modest gatherings and commercial productions.
Some stays are more than a weekend away. They’re celebrations. Reunions. Backyard dinners. Milestones.
While The Fernweh House is not a commercial event venue, we do occasionally host thoughtfully planned gatherings — always with care for the home, the land, and our neighbors.
Guest Limits & Approval
- —Maximum overnight guests: 6
- —Gatherings with more than 10 total people — including overnight guests — require advance written approval
- —Maximum approved event size: 25 total guests
Any gathering exceeding 10 total people that has not been approved in advance is considered unauthorized and is not permitted.
How the Space Can Be Used
The Fernweh House was designed as a retreat. Our goal is to protect the home and its surroundings while still making room for meaningful gatherings.
Setup Locations
Tables, chairs, and catering may be set up:
- —On the gravel driveway area
- —Under the covered porch
If tents are used, they must be placed on the gravel driveway only. We maintain a longer, natural no-mow yard that is not suitable for tent staking or heavy foot traffic.
Guest Flow
Guests are welcome inside the home for normal use — bathrooms, drinks, and gathering in small numbers. We simply ask that the primary event activity remain outdoors.
Outdoor Features Available
- —The fire pit area
- —The river dock
- —The wood-fired hot tub area
Event & Production Requirements
All approved events and commercial shoots require:
- —A 3-night minimum stay
- —An additional event or production fee
- —An event-specific cleaning fee
Because every gathering differs in scope and impact, fees are determined on a case-by-case basis after reviewing guest count, setup details, and overall plan.
Larger events may also require:
- —An increased security deposit
- —A signed event addendum outlining additional rules and expectations
Commercial Photo & Video Shoots
Commercial photo and video shoots are considered on a case-by-case basis.
Approved productions must provide:
- —A certificate of insurance
- —Proof of liability coverage
- —The Fernweh House listed as additionally insured for the date(s) of the shoot
We reserve the right to limit crew size, equipment footprint, and interior access depending on the scope of production.
Quiet Hours & Neighbors
Quiet hours are 10:00 PM – 7:00 AM.
This is not flexible. We value our neighbors and the peaceful riverside setting. All outdoor activity, music, and gatherings must conclude or move indoors by 10:00 PM.
Absolute Restrictions
- —No smoking inside the home ($1,000 fine)
- —No unauthorized pets ($1,000 fine)
- —Do not alter, remove, or tamper with security or monitoring equipment
