Infrared Sauna
How to use the infrared sauna at The Fernweh House — setup, safe use, and tips.

Watch →
The infrared sauna is one of the most requested amenities at The Fernweh House. Unlike traditional saunas, it uses deep-penetrating infrared heat at lower temperatures — a gentler, longer soak that's easier on the body.
Preparation
- —Drink a full glass of water before your session
- —Press the power button on the sauna control panel
- —Set the temperature to 140°F–160°F
- —Set the timer to 60 minutes — the sauna takes about 45 minutes to preheat; heat turns off when the timer reaches zero
- —Press the Interior/Exterior Lights button to turn the lights on
Getting In
- —Wear a provided robe and place a towel on the bench before sitting
- —Connect your device via Bluetooth to the integrated audio system (optional)
- —Adjust the Chromotherapy mood lighting with the small remote inside
- —Increase the timer once inside to your preferred session length
During Your Session
Start with 20–30 minutes if it's your first session. Step out for a few minutes if you need a break, then re-enter. Listen to your body — there's no rush.
Cool Down
- —Step out and cool down gradually — don't rush this part
- —Drink water to rehydrate
- —A cool shower helps close pores and rinse off sweat
Safety Notes
- —Consult a doctor before use if you have heart conditions, are pregnant, or have heat sensitivity
- —Do not use if you have consumed alcohol
- —Children should not use the sauna without adult supervision
- —Always use a towel on the bench to protect the wood
